Activity Notifications - When Are They Needed?

     Hi all,

At the recent GSLs meeting one thing which was brought up was that it would be helpful to have some guidelines outlining when activity notifications ARE and ARE NOT required.

These details are below. I have issued this in a memo to all GSLs and ADCs today which they will send round in due course.

This should clearly define when an activity notification form is required to be completed and is effective immediately.

I think the guidleines are clear, but if in doubt about a specific scenario or activity, submitting the online activity notification form is the safest option - as this ensures you have covered yourself for the activity, followed all possible procedures and also that your insurance will be valid.

I hope this helps clarify the situation.

WSJ Brunel Selection - Update

Update A 5th place for the 2011 WSJ in Sweden has been given to the Brunel Scout District. We have been given the extra place because of the large number of Scouts and Explores from Brunel that attended the selection day. This good turn out on the selection day is party due to the hard work Kathryn Challis put in, visiting so many Troops and Units and getting so many Post cards out there. Thank you Kathryn and the WSJ team for all your support so far.

We have now spoken to the 5th highest scoring Scout and his parents, from the selection day to assess his commitment and understanding of the event.

We are proud to now be adding Alex Watkins a Scout from the 151st Bristol to join Elenya, Jake, Emily and Laura as representing the Brunel Scout District on the 2011 World Scout Jamboree in Sweden. Well done all of you.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Brunel Scout District has now confirmed four Scouts / Explorers selection for the 2011 WSJ.

We have met with the four top scoring Scouts and Explorers from the selection day and their parents. We have talked to them to check their understanding of what the event is all about and their commitment if they were selected.

All four of the top scoring Scouts and Explorers showed an excellent understanding of the event and proved to be totally committed if selected.

Because of this the Brunel Scout District are proud to support the top four scoring Scouts and Explores from the selection day.

Thank you to everyone for getting the Group and Unit census returns in promptly again this year. Over the 5 years that the Brunel Scout District has been inexistence, we have continually shown an increase in membership. Our total growth this year is plus 61 people that is 4.26 %. With all our efforts last years in adult volunteer recruitment this has shown an increase in the adult membership of 25 more adults that is 10.2 % the biggest increase we have ever had. I know many Groups and Units are still in need of more adult leaders and supporters, but the hard work we have put in on adult recruitment last year is clear to see in these figures below.
