Accidents & Illness

Accidents and illness are something that, sooner or later, most scout leaders will have to deal with. Many scouting activities carry with them a small percentage of risk, from the possibilities of injuries from activities and games to the risk arising from from camp cooking.

Some scouts might simply become ill on camp. A sense of adventure is essential in scouting, indeed managing and dealing with risk is important in the development of young people. However, as leaders it is important to understand some sensible precautions we can take to keep scouts safe, and to know how to react appropriately and competently if anything does go wrong.
